Album Releases:

Not to Disappear – Daughter, Release Date: 1/15

The sophomore album from this British indie folk group promises to soothe and seduce with its relaxing music and pleasing vocals. Read our review here.

 

Curve of the Earth – Mystery Jets, Release Date: 1/15

Another British band, Mystery Jets’ newest album will likely provide another interesting twist on the band’s eclectic combination of pop, post-punk, and psychedelia.

 

Awake Remixes – Tycho, Release Date: 1/15

Tycho, an ambient music group, slows down the tempo on widely used synthesizers, with the result being some great study music. Read our review here.

 

Emotional Mugger – Ty Segall, Release Date 1/22

The newest release from the constantly recording Ty Segall, Emotional Mugger contains the rocker’s iconic mix of heavy, fuzz guitar and airy, falsetto vocals.


 

Movie Premieres for 1/22:

Dirty Grandpa

Starring Robert De Niro and Zac Efron, Dirty Grandpa tells the story of a man (Efron) tricked into a raunchy spring break trip with his grandfather (De Niro) on the eve of his wedding.

The 5th Wave

This Sci-Fi thriller, starring Chloë Grace Moretz and Nick Robinson, gives viewers a look into an apocalyptic-era world in the wake of alien invasion. Awaiting another alien attack, a young girl and her brother embark on a desperate search for hope.

Ip Man 3

The third installment in this biographical martial arts series follows the life of the Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man when a young Bruce Lee arrives in Hong Kong to become the grandmaster’s pupil. Also starring Mike Tyson.
