Following the release of their sophomore album, Every Open Eye, Scottish synth-pop band CHVRCHES has been on a nonstop tour. For over a year, the band has visited sites all across the United States and Europe, playing popular songs such as “Leave A Trace” and “The Clearest Blue.” Their long tour finally comes to a close with two shows at D.C.’s Echostage on October 17th and 18th, the second of which was added by popular demand.

Having formed in Glasgow in 2011, the band consists of Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook, and Martin Doherty. The trio shows impressive range within the synthetic music genre, drawing from modern alt-pop and ‘80s new wave among other sources. Their sound is crisp, and immersive, offering an entertaining musical experience through a broad range of emotional topics.

On Every Open Eye, the band has begun to fully develop their own sound, establishing a unique spot for themselves the music scene. Emotion is channeled around synthetic beats, telling stories of love lost, but the album ultimately paints an uplifting image of self-determination. The band’s live experience matches their in-studio energy, presenting a promising concert experience as they take the stage for the final time on this tour.
