A Constitutional Review Committee established by student government convened for the first time Monday. The committee was organized by Georgetown University Student Association President Tawan Davis (CAS ‘01) in response to this year’s call for student government reform.
Davis called the committee in order to “present a new or revised Constitution for the student government of Georgetown University.” If the committee fails to agree on reform, the Yard Student Association Constitution will be voted on March 29.
“We all came from different perspectives and reached a consensus about principles student government should be founded upon. From the principles we crafted a mission statement,” said Heath Carter (CAS ‘03), a member of the committee and president of Interhall.
The committee will present a final draft to the University community on March 15.
