Student robbed in Georgetown

A female Georgetown student was robbed at gunpoint around 1 a.m. this past Saturday, according to a broadcast e-mail from the Department of Public Safety.

The student was walking southbound on the 1300 block of 34th St., NW, when two African-American males approached her and demanded her to give them her purse.

The student reported that one of the offenders was wearing a gray-hooded sweatshirt and displayed a handgun during the exchange. After she gave them her purse, the student reported that the two offenders ran southbound on 34th Street. The purse contained no valuables.

DPS, GERMS and the Metropolitan Police Department all responded to the scene, but no suspects were found.
