Counseling and Psychiatric Services is preparing for an increase in on-campus student population next semester. CAPS will begin a review of its counseling center’s activities and staffing this summer in order to meet this need.
The current staff may not be sufficient for an increase in campus need, CAPS Director Charles Tartaglia said.
“Because the number of students CAPS provides services to has almost doubled, the current staff has been doing twice the work with the same number of people,” Tartaglia said.
An interim director may be appointed to oversee the summer review process.
“Rather than try and hastily make a long-term commitment it seems more prudent to appoint someone on a temporary basis,” Tartaglia said.
