Although two administrative positions have been filled, several still remain vacant as administrators begin reviewing applications for the positions of Coordinator of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Resources, Director of Residence Life and Associate Director of Residence Life.
A new half-time position, tentatively titled Coordinator of LGBT Resources, was created to focus on LGBT students last spring. Associate Vice President Todd Olson and students from the diversity working group assembled the criteria for the new position and determined the scope of the search for the new administrator.
According to Olsen, the advertisement for the position has been posted for about one week in the Chronicle of Higher Education.
The position description states, “this newly created position will work to address the complex nature of LGBTQ issues within the context of a Catholic university.”
The position of director of Residence Life, which has been empty since Frank Robinson resigned in November 2002, is also advertised in the Chronicle of Higher Education. The ad states that the applicant should have, “excellent interpersonal, managerial, and communications skills; proven leadership abilities within a complex organization …”
Olsen said that those involved in the hiring process hope to have the positions filled by this summer.
The University has made headway in some areas, hiring two new administrators who took office this week.
Christopher Joyce took over as Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer at the beginning of the week.
Mary Dluhy, the newly appointed Special Assistant to the Vice President took office on Monday, Jan. 6. Dluhy’s half-time position was created in the spring of 2002 in order to help alleviate tension between groups on campus.
