Kah Yee Teh (SFS ‘06) won Tuesday’s Georgetown University Student Association election for Junior Class Representative. Because 16 students ran for First Year Class Representative, a run-off election of the top eight candidates will take place today to determine the four winners.

Teh won 301 votes, or 29.2 percent of the total vote, over four competitors. A special election was held because Chris Schmitter (SFS ‘06), who had won the position last spring, resigned to take a semester’s absence to work for Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry, according to Andy Asensio (CAS ‘06), Chief GUSA Spokesperson.

Gregory Muha (CAS ‘06) finished with 27.2 percent of the vote, followed by Murph Gallagher (CAS ‘06), with 18.6 percent, Jameson Debose (SFS ‘06), with 11.3 percent and Ali Jamshidi (CAS ‘06), with 8 percent.

Teh is primarily concerned with on-campus housing for the class of 2006. “Considering how late in the year it is already, I’ll probably not be able to help our class, but hopefully I can help the current sophomores,” Teh said.
