Pravin Rajan (SFS ‘07) and Nate Wright (CAS ‘06) are the new 2005-2006 Georgetown University Student Association President and Vice-President, according to unofficial preliminary results following yesterday’s election.

The Rajan/Wright ticket received 36.3 percent of the 2,269 votes cast, with Happy Johnson (CAS ‘07) and Vikram Agrawal (SFS ‘07) earning second place with 26.5 percent of the votes.

As a result of last year’s contended contest, GUSA instituted a series of election bylaw reforms, effective Nov. 2004. Under the new laws, the winner will be officially declared at 8 p.m. Thursday. Candidates are given 24 hours following the close of online voting to register complaints with the Election Commission. GUSA Director of Communications Andrew Asensio (CAS ‘06) said the reforms had a positive effect on this year’s campaign, which featured nine tickets.
