Several Henle residents were forced to leave their apartments for several nights after a broken sprinkler flooded their apartments Monday.
A sprinkler head in the stairwell of a Henle building turned on around 6:30 p.m. and continued for two hours, sending water into Henle 83, 84 and 85, according to Carl Fliescher (MSB ‘06), the apartment manager for the building.
“The fire department and maintenance arrived quickly and determined that the sprinkler was set off because someone hit it, not because of any heat or fire,” he said.
University officials removed students from their rooms overnight so that the water damage could be cleaned.
The residents of Henle 84 and 85 were allowed to move back in the next day, although cleaning crews continued to work on Henle 83, which was more heavily flooded, until Wednesday.
“The University told us to send them any damage claims, but most of our stuff was off the ground so it escaped damage,” said Henle 83 resident Dave Chiang (SFS ‘07).
