For those wondering when the construction will finally end, the Alumni House on 36th and O streets will not officially open until Homecoming Weekend on Oct. 23, according to Edmund Flood, director of Alumni Association Operations and Fundraising.
The Robert and Bernice Wagner complex combines five townhouses and covers 10,000 square feet. It will feature a library and reading room, a seminar room, an executive boardroom, a business reception area and an outdoor courtyard.
Staff offices on-site will house representatives from the Alumni Career Services and Alumni Parents Council, among others.
Fundraising was conducted via donations of engraved bricks and opportunities to name the various rooms. The Alumni Association is still selling the $500 bricks in a continued effort to raise money.
“The Alumni House will help our alumni reconnect to Georgetown and will offer a welcoming presence to alumni, family, staff, and friends of the university,” Flood said. “We’re calling it ‘your home away from home,’” he said.
Alumni will not be the only beneficiaries of the resources of the house. Students and faculty will also have a chance to interact during faculty ambassador programs, alumni book signings and receptions in the future.
