This fall, the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs may be featured as a prop on ABC’s new primetime series Commander in Chief, starring Geena Davis.
Earlier this month, Undergraduate Editor-in-Chief Margo Huennekens (SFS ‘06) got a call from Touchstone Pictures requesting permission to use the GJIA in the show. Touchstone did not specify how the Journal would fit into Commander in Chief’s plot, but Huennekens believes that it will appear in a scene “presumably in the White House.”
First, however, the offer must be cleared by Georgetown University’s public relations and legal departments.
“Because we’re an SFS publication, it has to go through the PR area of GU, just to avoid any misrepresentation of the Journal,” Huennekens said.
Huennekens expects a decision will be made by next week.
Commander in Chief is a drama about the first female American president, played by Davis. It premieres on September 27.
