Rainer Maria and Jana Hunter; Black Cat
Playing at the Black Cat tonight Rainer Maria is sure to dish out plenty of power-pop led by the female vocals of Caithlin De Marrais. Opening will be Jana Hunter, a neo-folk artist known for her intimate recordings.

The Hold Steady and Mordecai; Copley Lawn
Nearly impossible to miss, the free concert on Copley Lawn this Saturday will be headlined by riff-crazy pub-rockers The Hold Steady. Their live show is reportedly mind-melting, and this one’s likely to leave White-Gravenor shaking in its foundation.
Eagles of Death Metal; Black Cat
They don’t sound like the Eagles, and they certainly don’t play death metal. Instead, the Eagles of Death Metal play good ol’ fashioned hard rock that should translate well in the live setting.
Tuesday, 4/25
Islands, Why? and Cadence Weapon; Black Cat
Nick Diamonds and J’aime Tambeur, former members of the spazzy indie-pop group the Unicorns, have cleaned up their act a bit with their new band, Islands. Opening for the maritime maestros will be indie-folk outfit Why? and Edmonton-based rapper Cadence Weapon.

The Strokes; DAR Constitution Hall
Garage-rock revivalists The Strokes revamped their sound on their latest record, First Impressions of Earth. What remains, however, is the band’s incredibly tight rhythm section, whichshould get the audience grooving even if the band is too hip to shake it.
They Might Be Giants; 9:30 Club
This band is best known by the current generation for writing and performing the theme song for Fox’s “Malcolm in the Middle.” Make sure to break that old pair of Poindexter’s if you wish to fit in with the crowd.
