A large tarp now covers half of a historic townhouse at the corner of Florida Ave. and Sixth St. near Howard University. Last Sunday around 10:30 p.m. a Honda Pilot driven by 23 year old Jesus Foyez crashed into a Honda Civic stopped at a red light before hitting the townhouse. Bernard Quarterman, the owner of the house, estimated that Foyez was going between 80 and 100 mph.
“It was one of the worst collisions I’ve ever seen,” Alan Etter, spokeperson for the Metropolitan Police Department, said. “[The Civic} was virtually sheared in half.”
Foyez and the two Howard students who lived in the building were unharmed, but the two passengers in the Civic were killed.
Quarterman said that the students have been relocated to another house. Foyez has been charged with negligent homicide and Driving While Intoxicated.
