A $3.3 million redesign and restoration of the Georgetown Neighborhood Library on the corner of Wisconsin Ave and R St. began yesterday.
The D.C. Office of Contracting and Procurement contracted the Dynamic Corporation for the project’s first phase, which will cost approximately $861,314 and will include work on the building’s exterior, security lighting, general landscaping and other site improvements, according to a March 2 press release from the D.C. Public Library. The Anacostia, Tenley and Mount Pleasant Neighborhood Libraries are undergoing similar renovations.
The library will remain open through the projected 180 days of work, which is good news for Georgetown students who use it as an alternative to on-campus study spots.
“There aren’t very many people there,” Yvonne Elosiebo (SFS `07) said. “It’s a good place where you can just go and study.”
