Georgetown’s Relay for Life last Saturday night raised $283,953, making it the top-grossing first-year Relay event in the country.
Appromately 1700 people participated in the 12-hour relay walk around the Multi-Sport Field, according to Co-Chair Frank O’Driscoll (MSB ’08).
“I was incredibly impressed with how long people stayed,” he said. “Everyone I talked to said they had an amazing time. On Monday and Tuesday, it was definitely worth it to see everyone wearing the shirts.”
O’Driscoll has already moved on to setting a new goal: he said that Georgetown will hold another Relay for Life next year, and that he hopes the University’s event will be the top fundraiser nationwide.
