No Laughing Matter: “I swear I got in the stirrups more times than Roy Rogers,” Fran Drescher said as keynote speaker on Tuesday at the School of Nursing and Health Studies’ McAuley lecture. A uterine cancer survivor who was misdiagnosed over two years by eight doctors, Drescher wrote her bestseller Cancer Schmancer on her experiences with cancer. Drescher started an organization of the same name to campaign for women’s support of cancer prevention and screening. “I found my voice and it rings clear,” Drescher said. “I have to do this.”
