The Lady Hoyas (7-3-0, 1-2-0 BE) soccer team blew a 1-0 lead last Sunday en route to a 2-1 loss to conference foe Rutgers (6-4-1, 1-1-1 BE).

Georgetown struck first when junior midfielder Stephanie Zare found the back of the net in the 22nd minute. The goal came on one of Georgetown’s seven first-half corner kicks, as Zare collected the cross at the top of the box and beat the Scarlet Knight keeper Erin Guthrie.

Rutgers struck back just over five minutes later. After a Georgetown foul just outside of the box, sophomore midfielder Gina DeMaio converted the free kick for her fourth goal of the season.

The Knights had the better of play for most of the second half, and in the 68th minute, sophomore forward Kristie Lang put away her third goal of the year for the game-winner.

The match was the second of a five-game conference road trip. Georgetown travels to Tampa on Friday, October 5, to take on the University of South Florida (2-5-1, 1-2 BE).
