After a 4-goal game against Rutgers last weekend, sophomore midfielder Ashby Kaestner has become a star on the women’s lacrosse team. Behind her stellar play, the seventh-ranked Hoyas defeated the Scarlet Knights 11-5, bringing their record to 7-1.
“[Rutgers] was definitely the best game we played as a team,” Kaestner said. “It felt good, we started out slow and really turned it around and played all 60 minutes.”
Kaestner said that her numbers were much better than she expected they would be when the season started. Through the first eight games of the season she has already tallied 32 goals and five assists.
While she is thrilled at her increased production, she is waiting for teams to take notice and to try stifling her offensive production.
Georgetown travels to Chicago to take on Northwestern this week, and the Hoyas are going to need another strong team performance if they are to take down the first-ranked Wildcats. Kaestner is expecting the toughest game of the season, but her optimism remains undeterred. “We’re playing pretty well, we’ll see how it goes,” she concluded.
