William Rennie (COL ‘09), the alleged victim of the bias-related incident that occurred in Burleith two weeks ago, has decided to press charges and file a lawsuit against his alleged harassers. According to Rennie, the residents of a house on the 3600 block of S Street who taunted him at the beginning of the school year also did so in July.
Rennie has also filed a complaint with the Office of Student Conduct in an attempt to get those who allegedly taunted him expelled from school, or “get them punished as much as I can by the University.” According to Rennie, the Department of University Safety told him it would release the findings of their investigation to him today or tomorrow. While his lawsuit and charges may be somewhat reliant upon DPS’s findings, he said, he is able to identify the suspects.
“We are taking the appropriate steps consistent with the student code of conduct to address this matter,” University spokesperson Julie Green Bataille wrote in an email.
