The best college football recruits in the country usually graduate from high school a semester early and enroll at their college of choice for the spring semester. This year, Georgetown’s number one basketball recruit is taking a page out of the pigskin playbook. Hollis Thompson, a 6’7” small forward, has enrolled for the spring semester. In a press release announcing the move, Coach John Thompson III stressed that Hollis will only be acclimating to college life and will not suit up for the Hoyas this season.
Still, Hollis will be thrown into the thick of things in practice, experiencing the hardships that go along with playing older, more experienced Big East players sooner than any other freshmen in next year’s class. Any edge he can gain to add to his already polished skill set will help the Hoyas next season, a fact that some of his teammates have noted.
“Oh, he’s playing well,” teammate DaJuan Summers said. “He’s learning fast. He’s going to be a great player in our system. He’s very smart. He brings a lot of good things to the table.”
Hopefully, Hollis can bring his goods to the table and satisfy Hoya nation’s appetites as soon as next November. After all, good things come to those who wait.
