Fast teams have good times

Hoya swimming kicked off their season this past Friday at the Potomac Relays hosted by American University. Georgetown’s men placed second with 324 points, 18 behind first place George Mason. The women’s team came in fourth, with 284 points, 20 points ahead of fifth place Mary Washington.

A new era for Hoya field hockey?

Georgetown’s field hockey team confronted a tough quandary at the beginning of August when eight-year Head Coach Laurie Carroll announced her resignation in the last week of July. Her assistant coach Homero Pardi walked away with her. Two weeks later the Hoyas announced Tiffany Marsh as the new Head Coach and Emily Beach as her assistant.

Track gets set for post-season

The Georgetown Track and Field Team’s regular season came to an end last Saturday at the Penn Relays. The real competition heats up in post-season play beginning later this week.

Lady Hoyas win big

Senior Day gave the Hoyas more than just the seniors to celebrate. The Georgetown women’s softball team swept Coppin State on Tuesday. The lone senior on the team, Cathy Richter, fittingly hit her second homerun of the season in the first game, to help the Hoyas to a 17-0 victory. The Hoyas took the second game 19-0. Both games ended in five-inning mercy decisions.

The Georgetown women’s softball team continued their losing ways Wednesday night, dropping both games of a double-header against George Mason.

Lady Hoyas take third straight

Georgetown Women’s Lacrosse battled for their third straight road-win Tuesday evening. The 9th-ranked Hoyas (first in BE) defeated the College of William and Mary 13-5, improving their record against the Tribe to 11-1.
