Disappointing opener for Hoyas

The Lady Hoyas had a disappointing home opener against James Madison yesterday afternoon, dropping both games of their doubleheader, 7-1 and 8-0. Georgetown University President John J. DeGioia had the honor of throwing out the ceremonial first pitch before the very first game at Guy Mason Field, the new home of Georgetown softball.

Lights out for the Lady Hoyas

Monday was a sad night for the Lady Hoyas as they fell to Pittsburgh 68-58 in their final game of the season. Coming off a win on the road against Providence, the Hoyas hoped to make the Big East tournament with a win against Pitt. But the poor shooting that characterized their season prevented the Lady Hoyas from making a second-half run, and left them without a post-season berth.

Lady Hoyas let pivotal game slip

The Georgetown women’s basketball team was unable to capture a much-needed conference win on Tuesday night against the Pirates of Seton Hall. The Lady Hoyas’ stifling defense helped them snap a six game slide against conference rival Villanova on Saturday, but they could only match that defensive intensity for one half in Tuesday night’s 71-67 loss.

Women lose big

The Lady Hoyas added to their losing streak in the Big East, bringing the number to five. Georgetown (11-11, 1-8BE) lost to the University of South Florida (16-5, 6-2BE) 79-51 Tuesday night after falling into yet another scoring slump.

Shooting woes extend Hoyas’ losing streak

The Hoyas came out strong at home against the Cincinnati Bearcats last Tuesday, but despite their efforts the ladies fell into a shooting drought in the first half and never recovered. The Bearcats (12-7, 3-4 BE) defeated Georgetown (11-9, 1-6 BE) by a score of 80-62, bringing the Lady Hoyas’ losing streak to three.

Knights dominate Lady Hoyas

The Lady Hoyas could not find their game Tuesday night in a Big East match-up against Rutgers. Ranked 2nd in the conference, Rutgers dominated the Hoyas 71-41. The Hoyas now sit with an 11-7 record (1-4 BE), while Rutgers holds a 10-5 record, (5-1 BE).

Hoyas can’t cage the Cardinals

The women’s basketball team failed to grab a second Big East home win Tuesday night. The ladies got their first BE win on the road last Saturday against St. John’s, but coming home they fell 57-54 to 17th-ranked Louisville. This dropped the Hoyas’ record to 11-6, 1-3 BE, and upped Louisville to 17-1, 3-1 BE.

The Lady Hoyas 2006-07 season started off on a sour note when, after a late-game tie, the Hoyas fell 64-57 to the Towson Tigers.

Hoyas get second BE win on Senior Day

It was a bittersweet victory for the Georgetown volleyball team (8-17) this Sunday at McDonough Gym. The Lady Hoyas captured their second Big East win, defeating DePaul 3-0 in their final home game of the season and the last of the seniors’ careers.

Lady Hoyas locked and loaded for season

The Big East coaches released their preseason poll a few weeks ago, ranking Georgetown 13th out of 16 teams. The ranking was a slight disappointment, but they are determined to prove their power and capabilities to the teams of the Big East.
