Canadian hockey legend Guy Lafleur is stirring up controversy north of the border.
Last week, Lafleur made headlines when news leaked that Pfizer, maker of Viagra, had signed on the Hockey Hall of Famer to appear in television advertisements dealing with erectile dysfunction.
The problem is that Guy Lafleur does not suffer from erectile dysfunction and does not require Viagra for any medical purpose.
Critics are concerned that this will send the false message to otherwise healthy men that it is OK to take Viagra to improve sexual performance.
Viagra itself will not appear in any of the ads as Canadian regulations prohibit direct advertisement of drugs. Pfizer insists that the aim of the ad campaign is simply to raise awareness of erectile dysfunction and to show that problem can affect everyone?even hockey stars.
