Welcome to “And-Ones,” the Voice’s post-game notebook for all news, stats, and notes following each Georgetown men’s basketball game.
- Sophomore forward Paul White missed his third consecutive game for the Hoyas with a hip injury. Georgetown Head Coach John Thompson III told the Voice after the game, “I could have played him if we needed him.” Sophomore guard Tre Campbell did not make the trip to New York due to an undisclosed illness but tweeted congratulatory remarks to his teammates after the game.
- For the second consecutive game, Thompson played all 10 available Hoyas with the absences of White and Campbell. “Everyone on that bench has to be ready to contribute for the time I put them in the game,” said Thompson. “I think they are comfortable. Everyone is ready and willing to step up.”
- The Hoyas did not attempt a single free-throw attempt in the first half, finishing 20-of-24 in the second half.
- Georgetown has a long history of playing at Madison Square Garden. The Blue and Gray have an all-time record of 83-75. Under Head Coach John Thompson III, the Hoyas are 23-15 at the World’s Most Famous Arena. The Badgers, on the other hand, made their first visit to the Madison Square Garden since 1947.
- This is the Georgetown’s first appearance in the 2K Classic since the 1998-99 season, the last time the Hoyas started 0-2 to open a season.
- Despite New York State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman cease-and-desist order regarding daily fantasy sports sites in the state, advertisements for daily fantasy site FanDuel were ubiquitous throughout Madison Square Garden. The website’s logo was displayed on the baselines underneath both baskets and an advertisement was read during one of the game’s media timeouts.
- Speaking of gambling, the Hoyas entered Friday night’s game as 1.5-point underdogs
