Football (2-3, 0-3 Patriot League)?In another miraculous finish up on Kehoe field, the Hoyas defeated Davidson 26-24 on Saturday for their second straight win.
Georgetown senior defensive end Eric Speron intercepted the potential game-tying two-point conversion pass in the final minute as the Hoyas held on for the win.
Coach Bob Benson’s squad rushed for 152 yards in the win, and passed for 221. Senior quarterback Sean Peterson was 15-26, with 186 passing yards and a touchdown.
Volleyball (11-6, 6-1 Big East)?Senior outside hitter Yulia Vtyurina had 12 kills and 10 digs in Georgetown’s 3-0 (30-18, 30-23, 30-22) win over UMBC on Tuesday. Sophomore setter Jen Ward, who was injured earlier this year, notched 29 assists and had a .500 hitting percentage.
The Hoyas hit .313 for the match and recorded 46 team kills while holding the Retrievers to just 33.
Sailing?The Hoyas finished second in two regattas this weekend. At the Navy Fall Intersectional in Annapolis, MD, senior Brian Bissell, senior Melanie Wood, and freshman Barbara Hall finished first in the “B” Division to earn 106 of Georgetown’s 521 points. Sailors also raced at the Washington College Open, finishing second with 73 points, and at the Yale Women’s Intersectional, finishing 15th overall.
Men’s Soccer (5-6-1, 3-3 Big East)?Georgetown lost another overtime nailbiter on Sunday, losing 2-1 at Rutgers. Senior Nate Port scored the Hoyas’ lone goal just after halftime, stealing the ball from the Scarlet Knight defense to take a 1-0 lead.
Rutgers put a 35-yard shot away to win the game in just the third minute of overtime.
