Come to my house!

We’ll folks, we are in the midst of one of those times of the year again for sports fans. A time when nothing is really going on and all we can do is sit around and wait for the excitement of the upcoming weeks, which can’t come fast enough.

The Winter Olympics are over, Michael Jordan will be out for at least a few months after his upcoming knee surgery, and basketball and hockey season are still in that unintense pre-playoff period.

So why am I saying all of this, you might be asking yourself? It’s because I am making an impassioned plea for all Hoya fans or any bored sports fans to get behind Georgetown and root them to an NCAA berth by going to the Big East Tournament at Madison Square Garden in NYC over Spring Break. I’ll be honest, this article isn’t for kids who are going to Cancun or back home to Idaho or Los Angeles for Spring break, although you all might be really big fans. This article is for people like myself, who live in the NYC area or on the East Coast and are going to be at home over break. In my opinion, you have an obligation to go to this event, especially if you are a senior and it will be your last chance.

It’s not worth going into statistics or trying to figure out mathematically how Georgetown can get into the tournament. We’re past the point of complaining about Head Coach Craig Esherick’s coaching style or the Hoyas’ last-second missed shots, which have made fans groan all season; at this point they don’t mean jack. The only thing that matters right now is one fact, which is undeniable and unchangeable: If the Hoyas win, they’re in. We will go to the NCAA tournament and we can finally put the disappointments of this season behind us.

The Big East Tournament lasts four days. It goes from March 6 to 9 and will feature 11 games, so even if the Hoyas lose, (which will not happen), you’ll still get to see a lot of good basketball. I am guaranteeing, however, that Georgetown will win the Big East Tournament; there is no other option. I am so sure of my prediction that I have purchased tickets all the way through the tournament because I know I will have to be there to cheer on the Hoyas. Furthermore, I would like to extend an offer to any other Hoya fans that will be in the New York area for the tourney. If you need a place to stay, I live in Brooklyn, you can come to my house, and I will put you up for a few days just so you don’t miss this event. We will drink, we will party, and at the end of the weekend, we will celebrate a Georgetown Big East Tournament victory. So there you have it. You no longer have an excuse not to come, and I expect to see you there. I’m serious. E-mail me at CEDRIC216@AOL.COM if you are interested, and book your tickets to NYC today!
