After leaving office on March 4, former Georgetown University Student Association President Kaydee Bridges (SFS ‘03) and Vice President Mason Ayer (SFS ‘03) released their End of the Year Report Tuesday night. The report lists the accomplishments of the Bridges/Ayer administration and contains their recommendations to the new administration.

Although Bridges and Ayer stated in the report that the last year has been one of the “most productive years in recent memory,” they said that it was impossible to achieve all their goals. Bridges and Ayer recommended several key items for the new administration to pursue: ending the lockdown policy, updating my.georgetown.edu and expanding GUTS and SafeRides.

The report describes meetings with administrators, the process of appointing 160 students to GUSA positions, GUSA collaboration with other student groups and GUSA initiatives over the last year. It also includes reports from GUSA class representatives, advocacy committees and executive cabinet members.

Bridges and Ayer said in the report that many of GUSA’s daily accomplishments go unnoticed. “GUSA members take their jobs seriously and it is not unusual for them to spend considerable amounts of time in meetings throughout the week advocating for students,” the report read. Bridges and Ayer expressed their hope that the report will give students a sense of GUSA’s commitment and success.

Brian Morgenstern (CAS ‘05) and Steve de Man (CAS ‘04) took office as President and Vice President respectively on March 4. Their campaign promises included creating an entertainment venue and pub in New South, re-introducing student bartender nights at Hoya’s, as well as expanding GUTS bus services and ending the Lockdown policy for residence halls.

Morgenstern said he and de Man agree with Bridges and Ayer on all their recommendations, especially ending the Lockdown policy.

“It’s gonna be an uphill battle, especially with all the new security measures,” Morgenstern said.

Morgenstern and de Man are in the process of filling appointments for their administration and plan to finish sometime in April.
