Clarification of Mauney resolution opposition
I would like to clarify a citation in the Nov. 6 issue of the Voice that indicated that the Knights of Columbus had pledged their opposition to Matt Mauney’s GUSA resolution (“GUSA rejects affirmative of Arinze address,” News). The Voice wrote that “Mauney’s resolution angered several student groups on campus. Ten organizations, including the Knights of Columbus, Peace Action, GU Pride, MEChA, College Democrats, and the Progressive Board, pledged their opposition to the resolution.” This citation is attributed to an honest mistake and miscommunication on my part when distributing the compilation of individual student leader statements in opposition to the resolution during the Nov. 4 GUSA meeting.
Prior to the consideration of the resolution, I e-mailed several student leaders asking them for their opinion regarding the resolution.?Some made it clear that they were giving me their own personal opinions and I listed their responses in my compilation of club leaders and organizations opposing Mauney’s resolution. Now I realize however, that doing this, without making it explicitly clear that it was a club leader’s personal response, was a mistake and would like to clarify that Georgetown University Knights of Columbus neither opposed or endorsed Matt Mauney’s resolution.?I regret that this may have caused much confusion and I apologize for this error.?
