In hotly contested Big East action last Saturday, the Georgetown women’s basketball team fell to the Seton Hall Pirates in New Jersey 55-48. First-year forward Kieraah Marlow helped pace the Hoyas with her 7th double-double of the season tallying 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

The Hoyas started the game strong, jumping out to a 15-9 lead. Senior center Varda Tamoulianis had four points during the early run. She finished the game with a team high 15 points. Seton Hall responded with a 20-9 run to enter halftime with a 29-26 edge.

The second half saw a similar start for the Hoyas as they used an 11-4 run to take a 37-33 lead five minutes into the stanza. Again though, Seton Hall responded. This time, though, it came at just the right time. With six minutes remaining, the Pirates embarked on a 7-0 run to give them the lead for good. The Hoyas shot just 35 percent for the game.

In their first Big East action of the season last Wednesday, the Hoyas were upended by the visiting Boston College Eagles by a score of 78-29. Playing without senior guard Mary Lisicky, the Hoyas were in trouble from the beginning as Boston College opened with a 19-5 scoring run and never looked back. Shooting 56 percent from the field to Georgetown’s pedestrian 17 percent, the Eagles took a 42-12 lead into the half.

The second half was much of the same as the Hoyas scored 17 points on their way to the loss. Tamoulianis led the effort with a team-high seven points.
