After more than five decades as a unique Georgetown favorite, Wisemiller’s Grocery and Deli is opening a second store.
Spurred by the success of the deli’s most popular sandwich, the Chicken Madness, co-owners and Georgetown graduates Gena Vogel and Nabeel Audeh have decided to open a new location to offer their products to the more extended Georgetown community.
The new branch, Wisey’s Chicken Madness should be operational in just a few months. It will be located on Wisconsin Ave. near the intersection with O St.
“This will make Wisey’s available to residents, shoppers and tourists on the Wisconsin and M Street strips,” Audeh said.
The new store will feature Wisemiller’s current menu with a few new additions, including a Buffalo Chicken Sub, a vegetarian sandwich called Christina’s Delight and a Mediterranean chicken salad.
Though the building is ready, Vogel said, inspections are proving an obstacle. The specific inauguration date for the new location has not yet been decided.
“We will definitely be open by the end of the year,” Vogel said.
Over half a million Chicken Madness sandwiches have been sold since the sandwich’s creation in 1986, Vogel said.
