Rigg-orous studies

April 20, 2006

Students will have access to Riggs Library for one day of this semester’s study days, according to GUSA President Twister Murchison (SFS ‘08).

The library will be open on Sunday May 7 from 4 to 10 p.m. Between 100 and 150 students will be allowed to study there on a first-come, first-served basis. Beyond that limit, students who are curious about seeing the inside of the renowned library will be able to drop by as well.

“We’re hoping if the day goes well that we can secure more days for the fall for study days,” Murchison said. “I anticipate that it will enjoy a positive reaction among students.”

Murchison, whose campaign platform emphasized increasing student access to Riggs and other locations on campus, worked with GUSA cabinet members Vlad Gheciu (SFS ‘08) and Nadia Marquez (COL ‘09), along with Vice President for Student Affairs Todd Olson, to organize this year’s study day.
