Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School’s proposal to increase enrollment will go before the Board of Zoning Adjustment on Tuesday for final approval.
“We’re asking for an increase from 435 to 490 students,” Headmaster Daniel Kerns said. The plan also includes an increase from 110 to 120 faculty members.
Kerns said that the school’s applications have doubled in the last seven years. Administrators developed a new traffic plan in order to gain support for the increase, which was unanimously approved by the Advisory Neighborhood Commission on Jan. 30.
“We worked very closely with two ANC commissioners [on] our traffic management plan,” Kerns said. The traffic plan includes an off-duty police officer, staggered hours for faculty and staff, and a designated right turn lane on 35th Street, according to ANC Commissioner Ed Solomon.
