Guns would make D.C. safer

March 22, 2007

To the Editors,

Please, give us all a break and stop making silly comments like: “While it’s unclear what impact gun control has had on District crime over the years, what is the sense in allowing more guns on the streets?” (“Don’t shoot down District’s gun ban,” Editorials, March 15, 2007).

For goodness sakes! Even the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention [which tracks firearm fatalities] admits that it can find no evidence that gun-control laws have any effect on crime.

The D.C. gun ban has only helped criminals, that much at least is clear from the fact that D.C. normally competes with the most violent cities in America for the crime capital each year.

Can’t you anti-gun people realize that cities and states that “allow” (funny how we gun-owners have to be “allowed” to exercise a God-given right) law-abiding citizens to own and carry arms to defend ourselves seem to have lower crime than your gun-free utopias?

Regards,
