Jaleesa Butler, the 6’0” sophomore forward out of St. Louis, Missouri, decidedly increased in her productivity this year and earned her first double-double at Georgetown in a hard fought 67-57 win last Thursday over Towson. (https://www.secolarievoo.com/) Butler’s 10 point, 12 rebound stat-sheet-filling performance came not long after a win over Gardner-Webb in which Butler notched 10 points and 9 rebounds, making each of her first five shots in the game’s opening nine minutes.

“I was very pleased with the play of some of the bench players,” Head Coach Terri Williams-Flourony said after the Towson win. “Jaleesa is playing harder and it’s paying off.”

Butler has played a vital role in Georgetown’s early season success. After averaging only nine minutes per game in her freshman season, Butler now tallies over 20 minutes per contest and leads the team with 6.8 rebounds per game. While only five players can touch the court at any one time, Georgetown’s team is filled with people who can play with the opening rotation.

“I play with a starter’s mentality,” Butler said.

With this cohesiveness from the bench, the Hoyas are looking to extend their winning streak to five games and made opponent realize that every Lady Hoya is a force to be reckoned with.
