Hopefully you are aware that we, Sean Hayes and Andrew Madorsky, are running for GUSA President and Vice-President. We have a lot of great ideas for Georgetown, and a real passion for the university. This is why we were so concerned with a misquotation in last week’s editorial on the GUSA candidates. Among the things we are focusing on in our campaign is bringing the student body together for more campus events like the Homecoming Tailgate or Relay for Life. In our interview with the editorial board, we mentioned among our ideas an optional donation to charity at Midnight Madness. We were misquoted as saying:
“[Sean Hayes and Andrew Madorsky] proposed charging admission to Midnight Madness.”
Obviously we would never advocate charging students to participate in one of Georgetown’s best events. If you visit our website at www.hm2008.org, you would see that we support bringing students together at such events more often. It is disappointing to see us misrepresented on an issue so important to us.
Among the other issues we hope to address are the recent problems with campus safety and the alcohol policy. We are excited to commit our lives to bettering the Georgetown experience for all, and the students can trust us to be representatives of their interests. What separates us from the rest of the candidates is our personable nature and understanding of how this campus can be more fun. Please check out the videos on our website to get a better idea of our personalities, or look for us around campus in the next few days.
We are running for GUSA executive office because we truly love this school but realize a potential for every Hoya’s experience to be even better.
