What Rocks? Tommy Lee

February 26, 2009

When most Georgetown students hear the name Tommy Lee, they probably think of Mötley Crüe—specifically Pamela Anderson’s video camera-totin’ sweetie—but the Hoyas’ intense centerfielder is about to let Georgetown know who the real Tommy Lee is.

In the Big East/Big Ten Challenge this past weekend, Lee started the season off with a bang. The co-captain went eight for 13 over three games, driving in three runs and scoring four of the Hoyas’ nine runs. He stole two bases this weekend as well.

“He’s been an exceptional captain for us, because he can not only communicate with his teammates, but he backs up his words with his actions,” coach Pete Wilk said.

Lee hasn’t always led the Hoyas. After finishing his sophomore season at Winthrop University, the sparkplug transferred to Georgetown and was given the chance to show off his skills. Lee more than took advantage of the opportunity, and Georgetown became the site of his revitalization.

“Georgetown is a place where not only was I immediately taken in but it’s to the point where today I wouldn’t consider myself anything but a Hoya,” Lee said.

If Lee keeps up his strong play and leadership, he’ll help the Hoyas reach the Big East Tournament for the first time in a long time.
