In collaboration with the Czech Embassy, Georgetown University unveiled the new “Václav Havel’s Place” memorial in Alumni Square Wednesday afternoon. The dedication included a conversation between Georgetown professor and former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and Tomáš Halík, a professor at Prague’s Charles University. Václav Havel was a playwright who, in 1989, led the “Velvet Revolution” against the Communist Party in Czechoslovakia. Havel would eventually become president of the then newly-formed Czech Republic.
