Women’s Hoops Pre-Game Primer: Hoyas to host Xavier in regular season finale

February 27, 2016

Sports Information

On Sunday afternoon, the Georgetown women’s basketball team (15-12, 8-9 Big East) will host the  Xavier Wildcats (17-11, 8-9 Big East) in the regular season finale. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. at McDonough Arena.

Sports Information

The Musketeers enter the game riding a five-game losing streak, and will be hoping to pick up momentum heading into the postseason. Though both teams currently hold an 8-9 record in conference play, Xavier currently holds the tiebreaker with a better overall record, but that will be rendered irrelevant by the results of this game, with the winner earning the sixth seed and the loser earning the seventh in the Big East Tournament.

Georgetown is coming into the game after grinding past Butler (9-19, 4-13 Big East) 49-35 on Friday, in a match where the Hoyas shot 24 percent from the floor and the Bulldogs shooting 22 percent. Senior forward Dominique Vitalis posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Hoyas.

“In her senior campaign, you want to see her have success” said Georgetown Head Coach Natasha Adair.

Xavier’s last appearance was a loss to Villanova (18-10, 11-6 Big East), 58-55, in a back-and-forth battle featuring 13 lead changes.

The Hoyas are 0-4 against the Musketeers under Adair.

The game will be broadcast by the Big East Digital Network.
