Track gears up for Penn Relays at UVA

The Georgetown track & field program finished off an impressive showing at the two-day UVA Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia on Saturday night.

On the first day of the event, freshman Rey Rivera ran a personal best in the men’s 800m, clocking in at 1:48.04 and finishing second; Rivera’s performance was also the fastest 800m in the Big East this season. Freshman Nate Alleyne also ran a personal best in the men’s 400m, recording a time of 48.19 en route to finishing fourth. Graduate student Taylor Williams clocked in at 12.18 in the women’s 100m, good for eighth place and top-10 all-time performance in the 100m at Georgetown.

The second day of the event featured more strong performances from several Hoyas. Graduate student Jonathan Green finished third in the men’s 5000m, clocking in at 13:52.85, while sophomore Jack Salisbury finished 12th in the men’s 1500m at 3:45.84. Sophomore Margie Cullen finished with a personal best in the women’s 1500m, recording a time of 4:24.74.
