Since I’ve come to Georgetown, I have fully embraced that being from Los Angeles is my personality. So when season two of Netflix’s You came out last December, I was thrilled to see that it centered around a New Yorker (who inherently hated L.A.) moving to the City of Angels. In the show, they list the seven totems of Los Angeles that all outsiders moving to the city must see to be a true Angeleno, and that once you see them all you can never leave. Of course, there are some improvements to be made upon these totems—The Los Angeles Times did a fun story about that—but I’ve collected all seven L.A. totems and have no intention of truly ever leaving.
Are you a palm tree on fire or a rollerblader in booty shorts? Let’s find out and make fun of L.A. stereotypes along the way.
Shout out to Emma from home, an equally certified Angeleno, for helping me curate this.
