Hoya fans, put away your wallets: student tickets to men’s basketball games will be free for the 2026-27 season, Georgetown Athletics confirmed to the Voice today. More information about the tickets and how to claim them will be announced in the coming weeks.
“We are excited that we were able to work with sponsors to provide complimentary Georgetown Men’s Basketball tickets to students for 2026-27 season,” David Green, Georgetown’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, wrote to the Voice on Tuesday. “We hope that by removing the cost barrier to attendance, we’ll be able to make the games accessible to all full-time students, to drive more student engagement and create a stronger home-court advantage at Capital One Arena.”
This marks a big change for men’s basketball tickets, which are typically some of the only Georgetown athletics tickets not free with a student ID. Typically, student season tickets cost $99, and single game tickets start at around $10 depending on the game.
Free student tickets could mark a turning point for Georgetown Athletics who has struggled to get students to men’s basketball games. Since the 2012-2013 season, attendance at Capital One Area has been on a steady decline, with average per-game attendance below 50% capacity.
