When you ask Georgetown Head Coach Bob Benson about junior running back John Sims, he openly gushes about the reserve’s attitude, work ethic and determination. “He’s a team player, and he runs hard, ” Benson said. On Saturday, Sims ran hard, over, through, and by Davidson defenders en route to a school-record 268-yard rushing performance.

The New York Giants have finally gasped their last “save Fassel” breath, the Knicks and Rangers are giving Madison Square Garden fans everything they expect- high payrolls, ticket prices, and tallies in the loss column, and the most storied franchise in Major League Baseball was shocked by the up start Florida Marlins in game six of the World Series.

Turnovers seal doom in game, season

Women’s basketball The Georgetown women’s basketball team showed its new look on Monday defeating the Turkish national team 73-57 at McDonough Arena. The Hoyas were lead by double doubles from senior forward Rebekkah Brunson, sophomore guard Carmen Bruce and senior forward Varda Tamoulianis.

Men’s soccer celebrates 50th anniversary

Georgetown’s 1-0 loss on Saturday to the Connecticut Huskies on North Kehoe Field didn’t marr the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Georgetown men’s soccer and the twentieth anniversary of Head Coach Keith Tabatznik’s career at Georgetown.

The game brought back Georgetown alumni from as far back as fifty years ago, as well as the remnants of the pots-and-spoons- the raucous fan club banned by the NCAA for being too radical in the mid 90’s.

Rams’ Watson, penalties stymie Hoyas

If football games lasted only three quarters, Georgetown would still be a contender for the Patriot League championship. While recent close losses against conference foes led to optimism, they came out three hours after kickoff with another tough loss, and ensured themselves a third consecutive season without a winning record.

Football falls to league powerhouse Lehigh

Throughout the season, the Georgetown football team has dug itself into more holes than a confused Labrador searching for a bone in its backyard. Saturday was no different for the Hoyas, as an early fumble and two quick punts led to three unanswered Lehigh touchdowns, and a 45-24 loss at the hands of the Mountain Hawks.

Women’s Field Hockey (5-12-0)

The Georgetown field hockey team suffered two losses this past week to Temple and Appalachian State. The team failed to hold on to a 2-0 lead against the Mountaineers, losing 5-2 on Friday. On Sunday the Hoyas dropped a 3-1 decision to Temple.

Men’s soccer heats up in Big East play

The Georgetown men’s soccer team has found that loving feeling or whatever it was that they lost during the past two weekend home games, defeating the Syracuse Orangemen this Saturday 4-1 on North Kehoe Field to inch closer to the .500 mark.

Following the team’s first win in three games last Wednesday at Villanova, the Hoyas won their second straight Big East match with a brilliant second half performance against Syracuse.

The Georgetown men’s and women’s basketball seasons officially got under way last Friday night at McDonough Arena. This year’s Midnight Madness, coming off the heels of a bizarre off-season, gave anxious Hoyas fans their first glimpse at the athletes competing in the school’s most notable sport.
