The Main Campus Planning Committee, in conjunction with University provost Dorothy Brown, approved the funding plan proposed by the Georgetown University Student Association.
MCPC is a group of faculty, administrators and students that serve the provost as an advisory group in making long-term plans.
“I talked to Dr. Brown the day before the meeting and she said she was confident that MCPC would respond to the proposal in the affirmative,” said Marty LaFalce (CAS ‘03), a GUSA representative and co-author of the proposal.
“Some of the deans had concerns about the proliferation of student groups, but other than that, they were very supportive of our proposal,” LaFalce said.
The Board of Directors will review the proposal at their meeting this week. Brown said she believed the Board will approve the funding plan. The Board of Directors is the final group that needs to give approval before the proposal is incorporated into the university budget.
