Football (3-5, 0-4 Patriot)?After a heartbreaking loss on Oct. 27 to Marist, the Hoyas rebounded with a thrilling last-second 24-21 victory over San Diego on Saturday.

Georgetown drove 45 yards in the final two minutes for the winning touchdown when senior quarterback Sean Peterson connected on a three-yard pass to junior wideout Trenton Hillier for his second score of the day. The Hoya drive was set up by a blocked punt from junior Jamarr Staples, the second Hoya block in the game.

On defense, junior linebacker Nick Schultz led the Hoyas with 12 tackles. First-year defensive lineman Andy McCoy had two sacks, five tackles and a fumble recovery. For his efforts, McCoy was named the Patriot League’s Rookie of the Week.

Volleyball (16-7, 9-2 Big East)?Continuing to steamroll the competition, the volleyball team trounced Big East rivals Connecticut and Boston College, 3-0, 3-0 this week. The win places Georgetown securely in third place in the Big East with one match remaining, against Virginia Tech.

Senior outside hitter Yulia Vtyurina led the Hoyas in both games. In the Connecticut match, she registered her 10th double-double of the season with 17 kills and 12 digs, both match highs.

Against Boston College, she had 13 kills, five digs, two blocks and an assist. For Vtyurina’s play, she won the Big East Player of the Week award for the second time this season.

Soccer (9-8-1, 6-4 Big East)? Wrapping up a successful week with their third straight win, the Hoyas defeated the University of Pittsburgh in its final regular season match Tuesday by a score of 1-0.

First-year midfielder Kevin Sindelar headed in a pass from junior forward Tony Soric in the 27th minute to secure the victory and the seventh seed in the Big East Tournament for the Hoyas.

Earlier in the week, the Hoyas defeated another Big East rival, Seton Hall, by a 4-2 score.

Scoring for the Hoyas were seniors Andy Sol?, Kenny Owens and Nate Port twice. For his efforts, Port was named Big East Co-Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Port ends his highly successful regular season leading the Hoyas in goals with 11 and points with 25. The Hoyas next game will be a Big East Quarterfinal match-up at Notre Dame on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
