Henle Village grapples with mosquitos

A recent infestation of mosquitoes has had many residents of Henle Village scratching their heads in the past two weeks.

The University has hired an entomologist to diagnose and assist with the problem.

Christy Anthony, Area Coordinator for Henle Village, said that the problem began during the first week of September, but has recently grown more serious.

Thirteen apartments have reported mosquito problems to Anthony.

Anthony has encouraged residents to keep their windows and doors closed and to be responsible in their disposal of garbage as additional measures against attracting insects.

“Facilities has been very active in cleaning and draining the exterior drains in Henle, which seem to have had some standing water in them,” Anthony said. “Additionally, Facilities staff have been active in pruning back bushes and working to keep exterior trash build-up to a minimum.”
