Rangila rush

Waiting in line for an hour or more may no longer be the norm when buying tickets for Rangila.

The South Asian Society, which organizes and performs Rangila in Gaston Hall, has implemented two changes involving tickets, according to secretary Aneesh Deshpande.

Starting this year, Deshpande said, special RSVP tickets are available for students who want to attend the performance but cannot wait in line. The tickets cost $25 and guarantee a seat in the first five rows.

Additionally, the Wednesday night dress rehearsal, open only to press in the past, is now open to the public at a discounted price of $5.

Deshpande says the SAS will donate the proceeds from the two new ticket options to earthquake victims in Southern Asia. But he said that he does not expect Rangila to add an extra night.

“It’s been discussed, but I can’t see it happening in the next few years,” he said. “We are in an academic environment, and academics have to come first. We don’t want to wear our performers out.”
