UK rock lords Jesu (that’s YAY-zoo to the uninitiated) treat their thick metal pomp with enough feedback and distortion to justify their “shoegaze-metal” tag, proving to even the staunchest haters of rawk that, yes, metal can sound beautiful. Openers Fog make Minneapolis proud with their tighter-than-spandex chops and consciously nerdy lyricism.

Plastic water fowl? Check. Bassist crowned with foliage? Check. Enormous grizzly named Ursine Ultra? Uh, double check. Despite their name’s maritime connotations, British Sea Power play concerts firmly rooted in the terrestrial. Oh, and they also shred with the merciless intensity of the Pixies, just in case the giant bear didn’t have you sold.
