Jason Mraz was the first choice for the Spring Kickoff Concert in a survey e-mailed to students by the Georgetown Programming Board. Lupe Fiasco and Third Eye Blind followed closely behind.
According to GPB Concert Chair Danny Fortin (SFS ’12), the group is prepared to spend up to $70,000 on the event. An opening act is also expected for the concert and will be chosen after GPB books the main performer.
“We will essentially move down the list until we can book an artist that is available on the concert date,” Fortin wrote in an e-mail. “Because all of the artists are asking for relatively similar prices, finances will not play a huge role. At the same time, we are willing to pay more for an act that is heavily demanded by the students, even if a more inexpensive act is available.”
