Latest break-in resembles “Cuddler” attacks

Early Wednesday morning a man entered a house on the 3300 block of Prospect Street and lay on top of one of the female residents. This is the fourth suspicious incident the residents of the house have experienced. The Wednesday morning break-in bears a striking resemblance to the string of sexually motivated burglaries in the Georgetown area which some students attributed to “the Georgetown Cuddler.”

Gallucci to head MacArthur Foundation

Robert Gallucci, Dean of the School of Foreign Service, has been chosen as the fourth President of the Chicago-based John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Gallucci’s post at the Foundation will begin this July, when he will begin to oversee one of the largest philanthropic organizations in the world.

Although the owners of Philadelphia Pizza Co. came to Monday’s meeting of the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Committee hoping to get approval for a new fan designed to propel food odors away from their neighbors, they came away with a unanimous resolution of condemnation.

Dollars and Sense: UDC’s Tuition Showdown

Every time University of the District of Columbia President Allen Sessoms tries to speak to the crowd assembled in the auditorium of Building 46, seventy students rise and turn their back to him. These are the members of Operation Save UDC, and they have been standing for much of the past two hours, attentive to every detail of the public meeting of the Board of Trustees that is underway. They have reason to be vigilant; the trustees are voting on a proposed 86 percent tuition increase for the students of the University.

SFS-Q getting new headquarters by 2010

The Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar is in the process of constructing a new building that will include academic office space, classrooms, a library, and other facilities to accommodate up to 450 students. The building will allow the University to gradually increase enrollment at SFS-Q, which now stands at approximately 150 students.

Professor Chuck Hagel

Former Senator Chuck Hagel (R—Neb.) will be joining the Georgetown faculty next year as a Distinguished Professor in the Practice of National Governance. Hagel will teach classes on U.S. Foreign Policy to both undergraduate and graduate students.
