Hoyas score another comeback win

Following an unsuccessful weekend at the University of South Florida that saw a Bull’s sweep of the Hoyas, the Georgetown University men’s baseball team bounced back this week with two hard-fought victories against Mount St. Mary’s and George Washington.

Hoyas named co-champions

While most of the Georgetown student body travelled home or to exotic vacation destinations last week, the men’s baseball team took its annual trip to Florida for the Rollins College Baseball Week. The tournament was a huge success for the Hoyas, whose overall record of 4-2 earned them the title of co-champions.

After enduring weeks of practices amid record-breaking snowfall in D.C., the Georgetown baseball team finally got a chance to play on green grass under clear skies last weekend when they traveled to North Carolina for their season opening series against Davidson.

Hoyas not ready to say goodbye

Typically, a bye week during the football season gives players the opportunity to rest and recover from injury, and allows coaches additional time to regroup and implement new strategies. But for Georgetown, fourteen days without a game may have other implications as well. For some, the time off may have been a huge relief. A week with no game scheduled meant that for the first time since the season opener, the Hoyas did not have to fear another unsuccessful Saturday.

Women’s volleyball looks to continue growth

Last year, the Georgetown women’s volleyball team managed to rebound dramatically from the season before—in which they tallied only five wins against twenty-seven losses—improving to 14-13 last season.

Former Hoya schools Eastern Europe on the court

Seeing little playing time for the Georgetown Hoyas throughout his college career, Sead Dizdarevic wasn’t exactly a superstar on the basketball court. His greatest accomplishment might have been riding the bench in his final season as the Hoyas advanced to the 2007 Final Four. Despite his low profile during his collegiate career, after graduation Dizdarevic found a way to contribute both on and off the court.

Following their first loss against St. John’s, the Hoyas have been taking their fans for a rollercoaster ride characterized by gut-wrenching lows and thrilling highs.

Slow-starting Hoyas look to derail Duke lax

Well, that didn’t go as expected. The Georgetown Men’s Lacrosse team is only five games into their a 14 game season, but the players and coachesand has already find found themselves in a sizable hole. Last weekend, the Hoyas dropped to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in league play, losing 15-8 to Hobart in an ECAC League matchup.

Men’s lax hopes to rebound against Orange

As more youngsters are being introduced to the lacrosse world, NCAA Division I lacrosse is slowly, but surely, on the rise. A few years ago, the level of play dropped off significantly after the top 10 teams, but as the sport’s popularity has continued to expand, the competition has grown as well. This seems to have hurt the Hoyas, as a much-improved St. John’s Red Storm proved on Saturday when they defeated Georgetown 10-9 in a close matchup.
